US Spring Vacation Destinations

Spring travel destinations in the U.S. are filling up fast. Plan your trip now.

United States

Palm Beach, Florida

For a quieter, more upscale version of Miami  head to Palm Beach. Stretch out on the beach at some of the best resorts in Florida - the Breakers, the Four Seasons and the Eau Palm Beach or stay in town at the chic White Elephant (yep, the sister hotel from Nantucket), or the storied Chesterfield. Or make your way through the Florida Keys for the laid-back beach vibes, ending in funky, but stylish Key West. Paddle through the mangroves, try kite surfing or prepare for some amazing snorkeling.

Kiawah, South Carolina

Always a Houlahan favorite for families, when it comes to location, service and sheer number of incredible activities, there's really no competition on the Southeastern coast with Kiawah. The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort is designed to look like you've stepped into a third-generation plantation right down to the hotel art, which is mostly from the 1800s. Definitely not centuries-old, however, are the posh facilities and 255 luxurious rooms and suites. There's world-class golf, hiking, biking, nature activities to please children of all ages. Start your trip with a couple nights in Charleston at the posh, Belmond, or the modern, yet distinctly Charleston, Dewberry.

U.S. Virgin Islands

The islands of St. John, St. Croix, and St. Thomas are a convenient Caribbean getaway, without a passport. The U.S. Virgin Islands are known for their crystal-clear waters, white-sand beaches and charming beach towns. Most of the islands' resorts and homes have been renovated since the hurricane, including the Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas hotel, where you'll find a place where all your worldly cares disappear. This premiere St. Thomas resort offers refined luxury in a relaxed setting, a true Caribbean experience.

National Park Adventures

There are over 400 National Parks in the U.S. (although only 63 have the term 'National Park' in their name). This summer you can discover the wild west on horseback outside Yellowstone or the dramatic soaring peaks of Grand Teton National Park. Bring the kids to the breathtaking Grand Canyon or head over to California's Yosemite National Park and stand in awe below the famous granite cliffs of El Capitan and Half-Dome. Our travel experts can help you find the perfect trip to include iconic sites and hidden gems that will delight every traveler! Helicopter over volcanoes at Hawaii's Volcanoes National Park, kayak in the shadow of glaciers in Alaska, explore archeological sites at Mesa Verde, or check out the Great Smoky Mountains with a stay at Blackberry Farm or Blackberry Mountain (one of our SELECT properties with added amenities for Houlahan clients). Where will you go?

Puerto Rico

Another Caribbean getaway without need for a passport is the island or Puerto Rico. With its pristine beaches, lush rainforest and rich culture it is the perfect destination for families, couples and even a girls' getaway. The Fairmont El San Juan and the historic Condado Vanderbilt Hotel are perfectly positioned for exploring the history of charming Old San Juan, including the amazing food scene. If you prefer your morning coffee with a view of lush rainforests, the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar and the luxurious St. Regis Bahia Beach will satisfy that itch. Kayak in bioluminescent pools, fly over palm trees on a zip line, or just lounge on the beach. There's something for everyone.
