We first stayed in Grindelwald (near Interlaken) at a small family-run hotel called Gletschergarten; excellent service and the food was very good. We did kayaking in Lake Brienz and it was awesome, and we there is a great cycling day trip to 72 Waterfalls/Lauterbrunnen. I’ve sent clients on this trip and it gets rave reviews!
We went to Andermatt and stayed at Chedi Andermatt - totally fantastic and amazing hydrotherapy/spa area. Hiking and cycling in the region is outstanding. Other activities - golf on property, ferrari or motorcyle rentals for cruising the amazing passes, food/cheese outings. Easy access by train from Zurich in addition to being on the Glacier Express.
Next on the itinerary was Lucerne. I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental; outstanding property and fabulous location. We did the golden triangle excursion - Mt Pilatus was fantastic.
Lastly, we went to Zurich and stayed at Park Hyatt. Great location but very corporate, and rooms are a little worn. I would suggest the Savoy (Mandarin Oriental) instead. Baur Lac, Storchen, Widder are all grand old hotels, but the Mandarin Oriental property is new/fresh and airconditioned (which isn't true everywhere and Zurich was hot).
